Exercise, Nutrition, and Health
Dan Benardot is a tenured full professor in the Department of Nutrition at Georgia State University (GSU). He is also full professor of Kinesiology and Health, and is a member of the faculty in the Partnership for Urban Health Research of the School of Public Health. He currently directs the Laboratory for Elite Athlete Performance, and chairmans the university’s Radiation Safety Committee. As part of an intellectual property endeavor that originated through GSU, Dr. Benardot is inventor of NutriTiming® and serves as Head Scientific Advisor to NutriTiming LLC. He has published 7 books, 19 book chapters, and numerous scientific refereed articles. His most recent book is “ACSMs Sports Science Nutrition” (© 2019 Wolters Kluwer), written in his book also includes “Advanced Sports Nutrition-2nd Edition” (Human Kinetics Publisher © 2012, 411 pages). Dr. Benardot was nutritionist for the gold-medal winning United States Gymnastics Team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, the bronze and silver medal-winning USA marathoners at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and the multiple medal winning USA figure skaters at the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games. He was also a nutritionist for the 2017 Atlanta Falcons professional football team.
