John Ivy, Ph.D., is the chairman of Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, College of Education. He was the fellow of American College of Sports Medicine in 1980 and the ambassador for the American College of Sports Medicine from 1986 to 1990. Dr. Ivy is also the member of American Physiological Society, American Diabetes Association and American Society for Nutrition. His researches focus on the acute and chronic effects of exercise on muscle metabolism, particularly in carbohydrate regulation. Dr. Ivy is currently studying the gene locus and causes of muscle insulin resistance, and the mechanism by which exercise reduces muscle insulin resistance. Dr. Ivy is also studying the regulation of muscle glycogen synthesis, ways to increase the rate of muscle glycogen synthesis, and the effects of various functional AIDS on physical performance. Dr. Ivy is involved in the editorial board of “the American Journal of Physiology”, “the International Journal of Sports Nutrition”, and “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise”. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed and retrospective articles.
