Claudio Battaglini, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also the director of Get REAL & HEEL Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Program of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, director of the Exercise Oncology Research Laboratory, AICR (American Cancer Institute of Cancer Research) member of the Cancer Resource Advisory Committee, and fellow of American College of Sports Medicine. In 2007, Dr. Battaglini received the Lifetime Distinguished Leadership Award in Sports and Health Dana-Faber/Harvard Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on exercise and health of cancer patients, especially exercise intervention for breast cancer, leukemia, prostate cancer, lung cancer and other diseases. As a clinician, she has provided more than 5,000 hours of direct services to more than 1,000 cancer patients, including exercise assessment, prescription and training. Dr. Battaglini has published 79 journal papers and 95 conference papers, and the research support are mainly from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Foundation and National Counsel of Scientific Development and Technology (CNPq) Foundation.
