Jian Zhang, Ph.D., is the director of National Institute for Nutrition and Health Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the chairman of Chinese Nutrition Society. His research interests are dietary nutrition assessment and improvement for the elderly, nutrition and chronic disease prevention and control, assessment of the health benefits and potential risks of food intake. He has completed a number of international cooperation and national research projects as the project leader. He has won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Chinese Society of Nutrition (6th place) in 2006, the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Chinese Preventive Medical Association (6th place) in 2009, and the second prize of Science and Technology Progress of Chinese Preventive Medical Association (5th place) in 2011. He also has published over 50 papers including “Journals of Nutrition”, “British Journal of Nutrition”, “Nutrients, Nutrition Journal”, “Chinese Preventive Medicine” and so on as the first author and corresponding author. Dr. Zhang is involved in the writing of several professional monographs as chief editor and associate chief editor.
